Online Videos:

These will be more geared at actually learning street dance or hip hop dance, which is great exercise in itself. You may be able to order DVD’s instead of the downloads, or just burn the videos to a DVD to use as a workout.

DVD’s:

These are geared specifically at hip hop and street dance workouts. Dancing is always exercise, but these focus more on getting a good workout than on being a good dancer. The first one is cardio and ab work, and it comes with a bunch of different DVD’s and different levels. You said you wanted something cheap though. The last one is only like 10 bucks, and is a good cardio workout.

What are some good cardio dance workout dvds?

16th August

I’m 16 years old and wanting to lose some weight and tone up my body. I’m not wanting to lose a lot but I’d feel a lot better if I did lose some. Dance is the best way for me to do that because it can keep my attention. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good, effective cardio workout dvds? It also doesn’t have to be dance, I would appreciate other ideas also…just no boring ones please!

Please don’t lecture me about eating habits and exercising daily, I am eating more healthy, drinking lots of water and since its just about time for the school year to start I am coaching a youth dance team so I will also be exercising there too. I also forgot to mention I was be taking a kickboxing course at our local fight club for two hours once a week.

I’d appreciate and help you can give me! Thanks!

Cardio Barre is one that is fast paced and incorporates dance; this one is my favorite. (i’ve been a dancer for just about the majority of my life and this one holds my interest the most). If you’re into Bollywood there are many videos such as the Bollywood Dance Workout and Luscious is a belly dancing workout. Some people enjoy Jazzercise as well.
For videos other than dance ones, i would suggest anything by Shape (in particular the Bikini Body workout), Jillian Micheals, Gilad or Prevention Fitness (with Chris Freytag). They all combine cardio and strength training, both of which are very important when losing weight. If you don’t feel as if you would like to invest in these, if you go on the Fit Tv channel, there are many fun workouts.
If you aren’t opposed to running/jogging/swimming/biking, get outside or to the gym and participate in these activities. Staying inside is understandable in the winter months but during the other three seasons, i would venture out. Exercise like this will give you great results.

What are some good DVDs to use to learn how to belly dance?

I’m looking for DANCE Workout DVDs?

6th July

do u have any suggestions?
i need a workout that gives really good results… i’m aiming to lose 20-30 pounds.

so far i’ve looked at:
Zumba Dance
Hip Hop Abs
SYTCD Workout DVDs
Dance Your Ass Off Workout (best one i’ve seen so far)
"Fame" Workout
…among others.

if you’ve used any of the ones i mentioned, how was it?
and are there any other DVDs u recommend?

thanks alot :)

the zumba body transformation set (is that the same one?) is really good. I’ve been using it for about 2 months- the instruction is clear and easy enough to pick up, especially with the ‘easy beat’ system- i might mention that’s coming from someone with two left feet. The ab workout is great too.

Btw, you might want to check out cathe friedrich’s Basic Step DVD. It’s not dance but step aerobics. However its more professionally organised (and probably more directly effective for weight loss) than any dance dvd i’ve seen and loads of people love it. Here’s a link to her website. www.cathe.com . There are some useful testimonials in her forum too.

I’ve been using the two dvd sets in combo for a year and the effect has been awesome.

Good luck!

The best hip hop dance dvds you’ve used?

4th July

Okay, lame, I know, but for her birthday, my mom wants to learn how to dance. She’ll be 41 and she asked for a dance dvd, but it has to be something like upbeat and something with rhythm. So after I listed off some dances, she chose hip hop. And she’s like the WHITEST person I know, so it’s off-putting. So I’m wondering if anyone here has had any really good hip hop dvds that they were able to follow and they had a lot of fun using. This is a really weird request but she wants what she wants.

I dont really get into that dancing. I Ballrooom dancebut i HEARD STEP UP WAS GOOD.

Will I lose weight w/ belly dancing If I just use many belly dance dvds?

26th June

I live in a small town so they don’t offer any kind of classes but I really want to learn to belly dance and I also want to lose weight. Is this a good idea or is there another I can do this? Thanks.

Belly dance can be great exercise and great for muscle tone, but to lose weight, you ultimately need cardio.
As learning belly dance is not always high-level and consistent enough cardio to lose weight, I would suggest combining that will 30 minutes of high-speed walking or other cardio activity at least 5 days a week for best results.

Anyone know some good dance dvds? I don’t really want to learn how to dance, I just want to dance for fun. So I’m looking for something for exercise, preferably with popular music.

Here are some suggestions I found on Discount Dance…
- Breakin’ It Down with Laurie Ann Gibson
- Off Da Hook Hip Hop Aerobics
- So You Think You Can Dance Get Fit: Tone and Groove
- How to Dance Like a Pop Star
- Hip Hop Fuzion

How Workout Videos Can Help

28th April

Ever since Jane Fonda and Richard Simmons got us moving in the 1980s to their aerobic’s videos, workout videos have been a part of most people’s exercise routines at one time or another. The selection of videos available today is so varied and vast that no matter what your choice of exercise, you can find a video to assist you. Workout videos are a great component in helping to achieve your fitness goals.

Using workout videos in your fitness routine is helpful in many ways. Everyone knows how hard it is to make the time to exercise and getting to the gym is a near impossibility for some people and exercise videos are readily available for you to watch in your home, any time of the day or night. Having a variety of fitness videos in your home make will make it easy for you to exercise and you can workout whenever you havee got a few spare minutes, while moving at your own pace.

Workout videos can also help you save money. Gym memberships can be very costly and not everyone can afford them, not to mention that the number of people who have gym memberships but never step foot into the gym is ridiculously high. It’s estimated that 50% of people who sign up for gym memberships either go infrequently or not at all. For many people it’s a big waste of money. For an investment of $10-$25 you can own a workout video and for four times that amount you can have a variety of workout videos to help you target different fitness goals.

Using an exercise DVD during your home workouts can help you avoid injury as well. Many exercise videos are taught by experts in their field. It’s beneficial to have a professional show you how to exercise correctly, and videos can provide professional assistance.

Fitness DVDs usually contain a warm-up and a cool-down session. These are very important in avoiding injuries, yet many people do not include them within their exercise routine because they are so easy to pass by if you don’t have someone to remind you and with your very own personal trainer in front of you on the TV it is impossible to forget. Also, many specific types of exercises require precise movements, and the instructor in a workout can demonstrate the correct movements.

If you are self-conscious, then working out at home with a DVD can be very helpful. You get the benefit of being in an exercise class without having to exercise in front of other people. Perhaps you are insecure about your weight or feel awkward trying to learn new moves or simply uncomfortable having other people see you exercise. Using fitness DVDs in your own home can solve this problem.

Workout videos can keep you from getting into a fitness rut. If you’veve got a variety of exercise DVDs: weight lifting, yoga, kick boxing, aerobics, Pilates, dance, walking, boot camp, then you can keep yourself from getting bored. If you’re tired of one video, you can put it aside for a while and try something different. After all it doesn’t take too long for a body to adapt and then plateau, so don’t be afraid to mix it up.

Workout videos can also cater to your level of fitness. If you are just beginning an exercise program and are not in the greatest shape, you can find many different workout videos for beginners. Once you gain endurance and stamina, you can move up to a more advanced level. There are also many videos that cater to those who have very specific fitness needs like senior citizens or women who are pregnant.

If you have kids, fitness DVDs can help you encourage them to exercise as well. If they see you exercising, they are more likely to live active lifestyles themselves and they may just join in with you. There are some workout videos created especially for children and you can join them when it’s their exercise time.

With a variety of exercise DVDs in your home video library, you have all of the help you need to get moving, get fit and get in shape.
